NORWICH TOWNSHIP - Witnesses pulled a driver away from his burning vehicle, possibly saving his life, after a collision that occurred on Old Stage Road east of Highway 59 in Norwich Township around 6 a.m. Sunday May 13.

Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating the crash, that occurred when a four-door Pontiac Grand Prix left the roadway, collided with a tree and caught fire. Police, Oxford Centre firefighters and Oxford EMS responded to the scene, and the lone male occupant of the car was transported by air ambulance to London Health Sciences Centre with serious injuries.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation unit attended and police are continuing their investigation into the cause of the collision. Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to investigators to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
